The amount of these repairs was totally out of reality, it was practically priceless. This added Unemployment caused an economic crisis, which in turn, unleashed a tremendous devaluation of the currency. The "valuta" paper was worth nothing. All of them led to a widespread anger of the German population, and with it the birth and development of German nationalism.
