Data life cycle management is a policy based approach which is utilize to manage the flow of an information system data throughout the life cycle of that data.
The three main goals of data life cycle management are CONFIDENTIALITY, AVAILABILITY AND INTEGRITY.

The three main goals of data life cycle management are confidentiality, availability and integrity.

Data life cycle management is a policy based strategy which is used to manage the flow of information system’s data through its useful life.

For example, when a piece of data is captured and stored into a database. This new data will could be used for reporting or analytics. Or the new data will just be in the database and will no longer be useful. In either of the process, logic and validation may be applied to the data, but at a certain point the data will no longer be useful. It can then be achieved or purged.

The approach used in organizing this process from one step to another for enterprise organization is referred to as data life cycle management.

Confidentiality: is the protection of information so that third party wouldn’t have access to it. It is also preventing data from being accessed inappropriately.  

Integrity: this is the responsibility to store, preserve and record data appropriately. It is ensuring that data stored during the life cycle is accurate

Availability: this means that all appropriate users should have access to the data whenever the need arises.
