I have tried so many times could someone give an answer and tell me how they did it so I can finish my homework which is due tomorrow

1/3x + x = 4
1/3x + 3/3x = 4
4/3x = 4 .....divide both sides by 4/3
x = 4 / (4/3)
x = 4 * 3/4
x = 12/4
