what is the value of x for the graph 4x-5y=40

x = 5/4y + 10

thats the value of x for your graph

move the -5y over to the side of the = that has the 40..  now it is a positive 5y because we had to add it to both sides

then you divide by 4 so you can get just x on one side:::

4x = 5y + 40
----------------
        4 

so it leaves you with x = 5/4y + 10
