That number will increase by 120 Calories each day, Cuddles currently consumes 2,920 Calories a day. That number will decrease by 17o calories each day. The patterns will continue until both animals are consuming the same number of Calories each day. How many days will that be? How many calories will the animals consume each day then?

Hello, you have two cases:

Calories of Simba: 1180. They are going to increase by 120 each day.
Calories of Cuddles: 2920. They are going to decrease by 170 each day.

After x days, the calories of both are going to be the same.  

1180 + 120x = 2920 - 170 x

You can add 170x in both members

1180 + 120x + 170x = 2920 - 170x + 170x

1180 + 120x + 170x = 2920

1180 + 290x = 2920

You can substrac 1180 in both members

1180 - 1180 + 290x = 2920 - 1180

290x = 1740

You must divide 290 in both members

290x/290 = 1740/290

x = 6 dias

The pattern stop in six days.

Calories of Simba: 1180 + 120x
Calories of Simba: 1180 + (120)(6)
Calories of Simba: 1180 + 720 = 1900

Calories of Cuddles: 2920 - 170x
Calories of Cuddles: 2920 - (170)(6)
