Digestive enzymes are protein molecules that speed up digestion by catalyzing chemical reactions. These molecules would bring specific molecules together and create an environment that is favorable for the occurrence of a chemical reaction. Typically, it usually breakdown fats, proteins and carbs. These enzymes are found in digestive tracts of humans and animals and also in traps of plants that are carnivorous. There are a number of enzymes that are present in the body which functions specifically. Examples are proteases which are responsible of breaking proteins, lipases which split fat, nucleases which split nucleic acids and amylases which breakdown carbohydrates.
