Cribra Oritala is the abnormal feature of spongy bone invading the eye socket. This is a very common identifiable condition of bare skulls of archaeology. It is commonly believed that this condition results from a parasitic or Iron Deficient anemia. This is due to a theory that the body attempts to keep RBC counts as high as possible and will try to do this through creating spongy bone.
