So we can write RE + ET = RT

As given RE = 4x+7 , ET = 2(3x - 4) and RT = 43.

So $4x+7 + 2(3x - 4) = 43$

$4x + 7 + 6x - 8 = 43$
$10x - 1 = 43$

$10x = 43 + 1$

$10x = 44$

$x = \frac{44}{10} = 4.4$

So RE = 4*(4.4) + 7 = 17.6 + 7 = 24.6
