Majority of oxygen are transported in the blood by BINDING TO THE HEME PORTION OF HEMOGLOBIN. Hemoglobin is found in the red blood cell. It is made up four sub units and can bind up to four oxygen molecules. Heme is the component of the hemoglobin that is responsible for binding oxygen.
