Subcutaneous layer is the support layer for the skin and is composed largely of adipose tissue. It is also named as hypodermis which is a layer right below the dermis and assists to attach the skin to the underlying fascia or as named fibrous tissue of the bones and muscles. It is not firmly a part of the skin, even though the border among the hypodermis and dermis can be hard to differentiate. The hypodermis contains of fine vascularized, loose, areolar connective tissue and adipose tissue which tasks as a mode of fat storing and make available for insulation and mitigating for the integument.
