An insulin pump is a small electronic device that delivers rapid acting insulin incessantly to the body throughout the day. Insulin pump delivers insulin by two methods which are; (i) a bolus rate (a much higher rate of insulin administered before meals, and (ii) a basal rate (a continuous, small drop of insulin that maintains the blood sugar between meals and overnight.
