It is shown that Rose of Sharonville is very naive to be happy her pregnancy in the great depression. She's young and day dreams about living her life to the fullest with her true love and husband, Connie, another silly thing to think could happen in that decade. She's too imature to see her realistic future which would consist of Connie struggling to find work - if he hadn't of disappeared, - her baby possibly starving to death, her child growing up with less than nothing, and into the same struggles that she faces.
