Transcendentalists= hipsters. They were nonconformists who wanted to get closer to nature. It gave way for new religions and a greater movement of creativity with people. It revived the arts in America and created an AMERICAN culture.
Prior to the movement we were still pretty much seen as British, but with this we created books and established out own place.
