Afghan girl was the most prominent cover of national geographic which also lead to the widest worldwide search of the identity of the subject after being taken shot at a refugee camp in 1984. Up until 2002, Gula was found by the team of Steve Mcurry via iris recognition as many claimed to be Gula at that time.
