Mining is a process that involves the displacement of large amount of soil and rocks from a region in order to excavate valuable minerals and resources. It results in environmental degradation as it disturbs the natural habitat of living species, contaminate natural resources like air and water. Mine reclamation is a process of restoring the land where, mining took place. This is done by completely filling up the mining site with piles of soil, afforestation(planting trees), using land for agriculture purpose to minimize the environmental impacts such as erosion of soil, loss of native biodiversity and others.
