A lot of British colonies joined the Commonwealth of Nations (a free association of independent states) after their independence since the principles of world peacelibertyhuman rightsequality, and free trade are the organization’s core values, in which it reflects their endeavors.

WWII ... Over the next fifty years, two wars would greatly diminish the British Empire’s global presence, and by the end of the Second World War, Britain granted independence to most of the territories in its once vast Empire.
