It goes up by 1, and to the right by 2, so the slope is 1/2; the answer is A. [tex]y= \frac{1}{2}x[/tex]

We are given the points (2, 1)

To make this easier, we are going to find another set of points :)

I'm going to pick (0, 0) as it is an easy point to find :)

Now, we are trying to find the equation of this line.

So, we must use point-slope form.

Point-slope form ~ y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

We must find the slope of this.

I have just taught you how to find the slope in private messages, so no need to show the steps of finding the slope. However, I will do it just in case :P

Remember, m is the slope.

Our points are : (2, 1) and (0, 0)

m = (y₂-y₁) / (x₂-x₁)

Plug in the values.

m = (0-1) / (0-2)

Simplify.

m = -1/-2

m = 1/2

Remember, the point-slope form is : y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

Plug everything in.

y - (1) = 1/2(x - 2)

Simplify.

y - 1 = 1/2x - 1

Add 1 to both sides.

y = 1/2x - 1 + 1

Simplify.

y = 1/2x

So, our answer is A) y = 1/2x

~Hope I helped!~
