Alzheimer's disease. Amyloid plaques are found in the brain when certain protein fragments are not removed from the brain as it naturally should, resulting in a buildup and insoluble plaques remaining in the brain. Neurofobrillary tangles are formed when tau proteins have become abnormal and microtubules responsible for the transport of said proteins have collapsed.
