People tend to associate poor people with crime. But the main reason would be that sometimes people who don't have enough money for things, would lean towards stealing, so that they are able to get what they want/ need. Sometimes when someone is labeled as delinquent or deviant, is more likely to actually act on that label and conform to delinquent ways.
