Their reasons for not listing these with energy fuels of the future are many. These sources are too small in supply. They do not produce enough energy to meet today's great energy needs. They cause pollution and health problems. They are a serious threat to the ecology of our world. Most of the energy consumed in the United States is produced from these sources. Garbage, solid wastes, and fuel crops may help with the pollution cleanup and with finding fuels to replace coal, oil, and petroleum. Scientists are studying ways to change city and agricultural wastes into petroleum.
