1821- the Mexican War for Independence severed the control that Spain had exercised on its North American territories, and the new country of Mexico was formed from much of the lands that had comprised New Spain, including Spanish-Texas.
1830- The Law of April 6, 1830, said to be the same type of stimulus to the Texas-Revolution that the Stamp Act was to the American Revolution, was initiated by Lucas Alamán y Escalada, Mexican minister of foreign relations, and was designed to stop the flood of immigration from the United States to Texas.
1836- On March 2, 1836, Texas formally declared its independence from Mexico.
1844- All Texas prisoners are released by Mexico on order from Santa Anna.
