PLEASE HELP!!!!
Which values of P and Q result in an equation with no solutions?
Qx + 56 = −28x + P

(select all that apply)
a)Q = −28 and P = −56
b)Q = −56 and P = −56
c)Q =−28 and P = 56
d)Q =−28 and P = 28

Respuesta :

The form of equation with no solution is:

0 = any number, but not 0.

As you see, there are only numbers, but not x, so Q = -28 (answer a), c) or d)). If so we have:

[tex]-28x + 56 = -28x + P\quad|+28x\\\\56=P[/tex]

Now, when P = 56 the equation will be always true (56 = 56), so every x will be a solution. We don't want that so P ≠ 56 and the answers are a) (Q=-28 and P=-56) and d) (Q=-28 and P=28).
