Protesting governments is a democratic way of demonstrating popular dissatisfaction with socially unwanted acts of government. The act of protest is the result of the country's constitutional achievements, especially the freedom of expression described in the Bill of Rights. Thus, as long as the popular demonstrations are peaceful, that is, with respect to all citizens and public property, the police should not intervene.
