I would recommend this novel to a friend. Why? Because this novel show the growth of the main character, Sal, who goes on a journey that helps her grow up and find her identity... and many people my age are experiencing the same thing. An example of this is when Sal is in the hospital with her grandfather who she feels is blaming himself for her grandmother's stroke, after she thought about it for awhile and realised it wasn't his fault she forgave herself for her mother's miscarriage which she had been blaming on herself for years. Another example is when Sal musters up enough courage to go visit the area where the bus crash that killed her mother had occurred. Sal illegally drove herself there and climbed down to see the bus, basically she was trying to find closure. She needed closure that she never received after her mother's death.
