Friar Laurence is the only man that knows Juliet and Romeo are married or going to be. He says he marries them "to turn your household rancor to pure love." Rancor means hatred.

The Prince is the one who tells the Capulets and Montagues in the beginning that if there is any more bloodshed they will pay with their lives. He only shows up in the play after a crime has been committed.
