I'm assuming that you are referring to the Ancient Egyptian "Book of the Dead". It was a compilation of scriptures that were found in found in tombs from that era. It was supposed to help guide the soul in the afterlife. It contained spells, hieroglyphics, and other depictions. The Book of the Dead is often shown as some sort of spell book in movies like Stephen Sommer's "The Mummy" with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. But in truth, it was a guide for deceased souls.
