When food enters the stomach absorption begins. Although absorption is done in stomach, the majority of absorption is done in the small intestine. The absorption begins once the gastric juices, acids, and enzymes. The food is broken down into a liquid but not enough to pass through the body. That is where the small intestine pay a major role. The small intestine releases a chemical that allows the food to be broken down enough to pass through the body. Tissues and blood vessels are responsible for passing the nutrients throughout the body.
