The inner lining of the stomach is composed of several mucous membrane layer that contains the glands of the gastric system. It's actually a 1mm thick organ that has a smooth, soft, and velvety surface. It also is composed of muscles and several layers of tissue that help in contract and digest food that came within the esophageal tract. It is actually pinkish in color at the pyloric end and also of a red or reddish-brown color over the rest of its surface.
