( I know the answers I just don't get why)

1. A bag of grass seeds weighed 1/8 of a gram. That was enough to cover 1/6 of a lawn with seed. How many bags would it take to completely cover the lawn? 6 bags

2. A small can of pain was 1/5 of a liter. That was enough to fill 1/4 of a paint sprayer. How many cans would it take to completely fill the sprayer? 4 cans

3. An old potato outputs 1/3 of a volt of electricity, which is 1/3 the amount of power needed for a small lightbulb. How many potatoes would you need to power the lightbulb? 3 potatoes

Respuesta :

1)

neverminding how many grams or liters...or whatever unit for now
we know one bag of grass covered 1/6 of the lawn, "a whole" or 1, is 6/6
if 1 bag covers 1/6, to cover 6/6 is just 1/6 +1/6 +1/6 +1/6 +1/6 +1/6 , or 6 bags

2)

one can was enough for 1/4 of the sprayer, a full sprayer is 1 whole or 4/4, so 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4  or 4 cans

3)

one potato gives enough for 1/3 for a lighbulb, again, 1 whole is 3/3, so 1/3 +1/3 +1/3 , so 3 potatoes
