Conduction is the process of heat transfer when two bodies(one hotter than the other) are kept in contact.

While, Convection occurs when heat is transferred through a medium such as air where it can form currents.

For example: When land gets heated up, the air just above the land gets heated up as well due to conduction. Now, hot air being lighter rises up and cold air comes down to gain the heat from  the land. This is known as convection or convectional currents. Cool air from the sea rushes to the land or vice-versa - this is also an example of convection.

hope it helps!
