Answer:
I believe that Martin Luther King Jr. was the Most Influential Person of the 20th Century. He was a strong, if not the strongest leader for the civil rights movement, and is said to have been the Voice of Civil Rights in the 20th century. He fought entirely nonviolently against racism and segregation, and started new forms of protests more effective than many others. Even after being beaten, hosed down and attacked with dogs, he and his followers stayed nonviolent and demanded equal rights for all. His famous “I have a dream” speech was heard by, and inspired millions of people. Not only in America were his words felt, but all across the globe he was a beacon of hope for those who were oppressed.
While there are no “correct” answers to this question in my opinion, I do believe that Martin Luther King was the Most Influential Person of the 20th Century. There are many others, such as Mahatma Gandhi, another advocate for civil rights in India. And Mother Teresa, a nun who valued nothing over human happiness and prosperity. She gave up whatever was needed to help the less fortunate. Or Albert Einstein, a human genius that founded many of today’s scientific principles that are still in use today. Not to be overshadowed by Einstein was Nikolai Tesla, who started experimentation with the true powers of electricity beyond just lights and telephones. Or even the Infamous and evil Adolf Hitler, who shaped the middle of the 1900s with his cruelty. To be influential one doesn’t necessarily have to be right.
The 20th century was an enormous leap ahead for human rights, peace, and technology. To mark even one person as the single most influential is a struggle with so many important people.
