President McKinley was assassinated. ANd at the time TR was the VP for McKinley. And only reason he was the VP is because businesses didn't want to deal with him, so they I think bribed McKinley to have TR be his VP (although double check me on that). After that, people of America realized that he was a pretty solid president and elected him for two terms afterwards.
Theodore Roosevelt was the Vice-President of William McKinley. While attending the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, NY on 6 September 1901, McKinley was assassinated, dying from his wounds days later. Vice President Roosevelt is now President Roosevelt.
