Help with question about "The R a p e of The Lock" by Alexander Pope.
(The letters are spaced on the second word of the title because brainly wouldn't allow it)

Why do Ariel and the other sylphs abandon Belinda?

They are afraid of getting hurt.
They want to get a lock of hair themselves.
They recognize that she loves a human man.
They are called back to the Cave of Spleens.

Respuesta :

i had the same question on a test and i got it correct the answer is C:They recognize that she loves a human man.

The answer is: They recognize that she loves a human man.

In Alexander Pope's narrative poem "The R ape of the Lock," the sylphs can protect Belinda if she is pure and has a good heart, but their power is gone if she begins to have feelings for someone. Therefore, because she begins to have feelings for Baron, Ariel ans the sylphs can't help her anymore.
