subtract 3 from both sides
so that the eqaution will say x squared equals -20
then find the sqaure root of both sides and then you have the answer
its ok that -20 is an imperfect square

-40 to the power of 2 = -20

-20 + 3 = -17                         THATS UR ANSWER :P
