Insertion (illustration)
An insertion changes the number of DNA bases in a gene by adding a piece of DNA. As a result, the protein made by the gene may not function properly.
All options can generate genetic mutations.
In genetics, a spontaneous and unpredictable variation in the sequence of genes that make up the DNA of a living being is called mutation, which introduces specific changes of a physical, physiological or other type in the individual, which may or may not be inherited their descendants. Mutations can result in positive or negative changes in the vital performance of organism.
Insertions are mutations in which additional base pairs are inserted into a new place in the DNA.
A substitution is a mutation in which one base is exchanged for another.
The deletion is mutations in which a part of the DNA is lost, or deleted.
