Read the passage.

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak
December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost
upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; —vainly I had sought
to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the
lost Lenore—
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels
name Lenore—
Nameless here for evermore
Which best describes the mood of the passage?

A. Indifferent
B. Inquisitive
C. Gloomy
D. Frustrated

I think it's C but I'm not totally sure.

Respuesta :

In my opinion C would best fit the mood of this passage. With keywords like evermore, sorrow, and "Wished for the morrow."

Hope I helped! Happy learning :)

The general mood of the Raven by Edgar Allan Poe is best described as Gloomy.

The meaning of gloomy is dark, depressive or pessimistic either if it is applied to a situation, place or person.

We can see examples of this in "Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak  December"

"From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the  lost Lenore—"

The other options are not correct because indifferent is the lack of interest in absolutely everything, inquisitive is the search for knowledge through questioning everything and frustrated is a wave of anger feeling after being unable to do or accomplish something.
