Taj Mahal was once constructed through a grief troubled Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial to his cherished wife Mumtaz Mahal.
Built between 1632 and 1653, the world-famous Taj Mahal was once commissioned by way of the Shah Jahan, the fifth emperor of the Mughal Empire that ruled most of northern India between the 16th and 18th century, to commemorate his beloved spouse Mumtaz Mahal who died of childbirth complications.
Jahangir's son built the gigantic mausoleum as a memorial to his favored spouse Mumtaz Mahal, though it ultimately grew to become the ruler's tomb as well.
