Contrary to the idea of equality, equity does not involve equal treatment for all people. Equity refers to fairness and justice in both the process and the outcome. A level playing field for all people and communities often requires unequal treatment and resource redistribution in order to achieve equitable outcomes. To give opportunity for all people and communities to succeed in our university environment, this calls for identifying and removing barriers.
