People who draw from both their home culture and mainstream culture to create an attitude that allows them to succeed are called cultural navigators.
- Cultural Navigators (CNs) function as mentors to ease the strain of adjusting to a new culture, establish connections to essential services and resources, and open doors to community involvement and family-oriented activities. At Hartford Public Library, CNs undergo both in-person and online training before being matched for a three-month assignment with people and/or families.
- The Cultural Navigator teaches users about their own individual cultural preferences and equips them with the resources they need to interact and cooperate with people from other backgrounds more effectively.
