For example: Cones are specialized cells that are found in the retina of the eye and are in charge of vision in high light and color. They can transform the light of various wavelengths into electrical impulses that are sent to the brain because they are sensitive to light of those wavelengths. Whereas Merkel's discs, are specialized cells found in the skin that are involved in detecting touch and pressure. They do not play a role in sensory transduction.
