5n + 10d + 25q = 600
n + 2d + 5q = 120
d + 5 + 2d + 5q = 120 [ as, n = d + 5 ]
3d + 5q = 115 ....... (iv)
Now, putting the value in equation (i)
d +5 + d + q = 35
2d + q = 35 ....... (v)
Multiply the equation (v) by 5 we get -
10d + 5q = 150 .......... (vi)
Now, subtract equation (vi) from (iv)
10d + 5q = 150
- 3d - 5q = - 115
so, 7d = 35
or, d = 5
Now, n = d + 5
or, n = 10 [putting the value of d]
Now, n + d + q = 35
10 + 5 + q = 35 [ putting the values of n and d]
q = 20
So, nickel = 10
dimes = 5
quarters = 20
