Calix’s genotype of XXY means that there’s meiotic nondisjunction or that chromosomes failed to separate during meiosis. This is a case of Klinefelter syndrome, which only occurs in meiosis because the problem is on diploid gametes separation.
Females have two X chromosomes (XX) while males have one X and one Y chromosome (XY). Klinefelter syndrome is found in boys or men with extra X chromosomes. The picture below shows how Calix got his chromosome.
Notice that chromosomes from the mother didn’t separate correctly (in a green box). The results will be one cell with zero chromosomes and one with the double X chromosome. Then the cell with XX chromosome will merge with a cell with the Y chromosome.
