A molecule is defined as a group of atoms (at least two) which are very strongly (covalently) bonded to each other in a certain arrangement and are neutrally charged and quite stable. According to this definition, molecules are different from polyatomic ions. In organic chemistry and biochemistry, the term molecule is used less rigidly, so that organic molecules and charged biomolecules are also considered molecules.
