Lack of resources to meet necessities like food, clothing, and shelter constitutes poverty. But poverty goes far beyond simply not having enough money. According to the World Bank Organization, hunger is a defining characteristic of poverty. Absence of shelter is poverty.
I chose poverty because it's a social problem.
What is poverty
Lack of a typical or socially acceptable level of wealth or material possessions is known as poverty. People are said to be in poverty when they lack the resources to meet their basic needs. In this situation, identifying the poor requires first determining what constitutes basic needs.
In addition to having limited access to food, clothing, healthcare, education, shelter, and safety, people who live in poverty also struggle to meet other basic needs. People who are poor may also lack resources and income in the social, economic, political, and/or material spheres.
First, a high poverty rate hinders the economic development of our country. Economic growth is more challenging to achieve when a large portion of the population cannot afford to buy goods and services. Second, poverty results in crime and other social issues that have an impact on people at all socioeconomic levels.
