Respuesta :
the action of the styloglossus is to elevate the tongue and draw it posteriorly, therefore the insertion would be at the tip and sides of tongue.
The styloglossus tissue functions to raise the lateral corners and also to rescind the tongue. The hyoglossus muscle induces tongue retraction and depression. The genioglossus muscle extends the tongue. The palatoglossus muscles enhance the posterior portion of the tongue.
When the styloglossus flows inferiorly and anteriorly to insert into the side and inferior aspects of the tongue, it is said to be inserted. On the tongue, the styloglossus and hyoglossus muscle fibers merge. It is connected to the body by the hypoglossal nerve (XII).
The styloglossus muscle arises from the distal lateral aspect of the stylohyoid bone and runs along the lateral aspect of the tongue. The paired muscle meets and ramifies with fibers from other tongue muscles near the tip of the tongue. Contraction of the styloglossus retracts the tongue.
