The plot is the fabric or story framework that tells the stages of a drama from beginning to end. Plot is also called plot. The plot is built around the following elements:
Exposition: the beginning of the story that describes how an event or events began.
Complication: the part that begins to show conflict between one character and another.
Climax: the high point of the conflict, the part when the conflict at the beginning of the story is now more complex or heated.
Resolution: also known as Falling Action, or completion part.
Catastrophe: also called Denounment, or the part where the character decides to act on the conflict that has occurred.
Plot Types
There are three types of plot in drama, namely:
Circular: the plot in which the storyline in the drama revolves around one event or one event.
Linear: a plot in which the storyline is sequential, usually based on the time sequence of events and arranged chronologically.
Episodic: plots where the stories are separated, but meet again at the end of the story.
