The Nullification Crisis is a political conflict in the United State in 1832, Congress introduced high tariffs protecting industrial products which were more favorable to the North part than the South part whose economy was based on agriculture.
South Carolina did not accept these high tariffs and regarded them as unconstitutional. The South Carolina lawmakers passed an Ordinance to nullify the tariffs law. This situation gave birth to the Nullification Crisis of 1832.
The cause of the crisis was that South Carolina refused to collect federal tariffs and whether a single state had any right to nullify federal laws within its state.
Therefore, South Carolina threatened to secede from the United States because of their refusal to collect federal tariffs.
