The peripheral nervous system's autonomic nervous system controls physiological functions that are carried out automatically, such as digestion, blood pressure, respiration, and sexual desire. Has three divisions in it: enteric, parasympathetic, and sympathetic. It is a section of the nervous system in charge of glands and the muscles of internal organs such the heart, blood vessels, lungs, stomach, and intestines, salivary glands and sweat glands.
