Centipedes have a single pair of legs per body segment, but millipedes have two pairs of legs per body segment.

The majority of millipedes are slower than centipedes and feed on leaf litter and loose organic matter. Their number of legs per body segment distinguishes them from centipedes.Centipedes are mostly carnivores, whereas millipedes are primarily detritivores. Centipedes are carnivores that kill their victims by injecting venom into them.
