Angie's resource room basic skills remediation was, to a certain extent, very effective.
Angie, a Little Town fourth student who receives special education services, in the resource room of Ms. Peter. Since the first grade, Angie has had academic difficulties with phonetics. The variety of traits that Angie displayed in her classroom that indicated a learning problem were not understood by her first-grade instructor. Not only did Angie's first-grade teacher fail to recognise the difficulties she faced, but she also failed to adapt the lesson plan to better fit her learning style. In fact, her teacher made Angie feel excluded from the rest of the class by calling her lazy. Angie's abilities were overlooked in first grade, and her mental health suffered. When Angie relocated to Little Town, her new teachers saw the academic learning challenges she had been experiencing in the general education classroom and requested that she be referred for potential educational needs.
Angie was first given access to the general education curriculum by the teachers, but because she was struggling with the reading activities, the school decided to offer some remediation for this particular issue. Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which makes learning accessible to students enrolled in inclusion programmes, might be advantageous to Angie. To adopt UDL, educators must adhere to three principles: offer numerous means of representation (what), offer multiple means of action and expression (how), and offer multiple ways of participation (why).
